The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said in an interview that his country would do everything it could to preserve peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and that everyone needed talks and dialogue.
“I hope that someday we will be able to make fraternal relations with Bosniaks, having in mind all the burden and all that they went through, but also all the burden and all that we went through, but for that, you always have to have two sides, ” noted Vucic.
Vucic pointed out that it is not good to impose something from the outside, and that it is never well taken in the Balkans, so the implementation of decisions is never good enough.
He announced that the persecution of the Serbian people in the “Oluja” (”Storm”) operation would be marked in Belgrade on August 4th and that the entire leadership of the Republika Srpska (RS) would attend the commemoration, and then they will talk to them.
The President of Serbia said that he would tell them three things.
“Firstly – we must keep the peace. Secondly – Serbia will respect the Dayton Peace Agreement, the integrity of BiH, but also the integrity of RS, and third thing – Serbia will always be with the people in RS and help them in every way. These are important things that Serbia will show at any moment, ” concluded Vucic.
To recall, after the decision of the now former High Representative Valentin Inzko to impose changes to the Criminal Code of BiH which bans genocide denial and glorification of convicted war criminals, the RS government and opposition decided to boycott the work of the BiH Presidency, BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and BiH Council of Ministers.
Since then, messages have been sent from the RS that are raising political tensions in BiH, all because genocide denial has been banned. All this is happening before the arrival of the new High Representative, Christian Schmidt, who is coming from Germany.
Also, they passed a law in the entity assembly rejecting the High Representative’s decisions, and another punishing anyone who calls the RS a genocidal formation or insults that BiH entity or its citizens in any other way, Klix.ba writes.
