Independent representative in the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Assembly, Arijana Memic, submitted an initiative at a session two days ago to prohibit police officers from visiting hospitality venues during working hours.
“I submit the initiative to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the CS. I propose an amendment to the Labor Law, specifically the Regulations on the Work of Police Officers in the CS, to explicitly permit police officers, during their working hours and at all times if they are in uniform, to visit hospitality venues, including those at gas stations, only on official duty when their presence is necessary,” Memic stated.
In this regard, she proposed the construction of a canteen within the new central building of the CS Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as cafeterias in Police Departments, where police officers would have access to “healthy and quality meals.”
She also suggested examining the possibility, advantages, and risks of introducing a voucher system for police officers in the field when consuming meals in the mentioned venues is justifiably prevented.
“I believe that with this approach, we will not only improve the image of police officers but also ensure that all police officers actually spend their working hours in service and move closer to the standards that already apply in European Union (EU) countries,” Memic said, Klix.ba reports.
