The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, held a meeting with Joshua Volz, Special Envoy for Global Energy Integration at the United States Department of Energy. During the meeting, issues of common interest for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States were discussed, with a special emphasis on the Southern Gas Interconnection project.
The importance of this project for strengthening energy security and regional cooperation in the energy sector, as well as improving the stability and reliability of energy supply in Southeast Europe, was emphasized.
Kristo emphasized that the Council of Ministers of BiH remains strongly committed to supporting projects that contribute to energy independence, attracting investments and accelerating economic development, emphasizing that key obligations and responsibilities currently lie at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that it is necessary for the relevant ministry of the FBiH Government to submit a new initiative to the Council of Ministers with a new text of the draft agreement in question, given that the amendments to the law that is in the adoption procedure in the FBiH Parliament also require changes to the essential part of the text of the agreement, which, among other things, refers to the very name of the agreement, the route and the investor.
As soon as the necessary legal and institutional prerequisites are ensured at the level of the Federation of BiH, the Council of Ministers of BiH can legally initiate the procedure for concluding an international agreement as prescribed by the Law on the Procedure for Concluding and Implementing International Agreements in the shortest possible time – the Council of Ministers of BiH announced.
