As part of EUFOR’s continued engagement with communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, visited Brod, where he met with the Mayor of Brod, Mr. Milan Zečević, before travelling to a humanitarian demining site near Orašje. The visit reaffirmed EUFOR’s commitment to supporting a safe and secure environment while strengthening cooperation with domestic authorities.

During the meeting, Mayor Zečević presented ongoing development projects in the municipality, highlighting the importance of a stable security environment for continued investment and economic growth. Major General Fronda welcomed these efforts and reiterated EUFOR’s commitment to working closely with local authorities in support of long-term stability and prosperity for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the meeting, COM EUFOR visited a humanitarian demining site near Orašje, where members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina Demining Battalion are conducting clearance operations in close coordination and with guidance from EUFOR’s Joint Military Affairs (JMA) branch.

The demining operation is of strategic importance for the region, as it will clear land planned for the construction of a strategic infrastructural development project for the locality in the form of a new primary roadway, improving regional connectivity and creating the conditions for safer, faster and more efficient travel. Beyond reducing the risk posed by explosive remnants of war, the project will also support future economic development and enhance the quality of life for local communities.

The visit formed part of EUFOR’s ongoing engagement with local leaders and communities, reinforcing dialogue, practical cooperation and mutual understanding, while demonstrating the Mission’s commitment to remaining a visible, credible and reliable partner in supporting a safe and secure environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
