The workers of the Kakanj Brown Coal Mine again went on strike this morning, and the reason is the impossibility of notarizing health cards for themselves and their families, confirmed to Fena Abdel Fazlić, president of the Kakanj RMU Trade Union.
“It is not normal that people who do the most difficult and humane work cannot certify the booklet, that is, they cannot receive treatment. The reason is unpaid health insurance contributions. Last month, the Health Insurance Institute of the Zenica-Doboj Canton allowed the certification of the booklets for employees in the mines of Breza, Kakanj and Zenica, but with the condition that a meeting on that topic be held in 15 days, ie by July 27, and a solution found. However, the meeting was not held, and this led to the fact that we cannot certify the passbooks again, so the workers of the first shift disobeyed this morning,” says Fazlić.
He announces that, due to the new situation, a meeting has been scheduled today at 2 p.m. in the relevant Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry, at which the directors of ZZO ZDK, the mentioned three mines, the Public Enterprise Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina and a representative of that ministry will be present.
