COM EUFOR Hosts the Chief of the Swiss Joint Operations Command

Commander EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, welcomed Lieutenant General Laurent Michaud, Chief of the Swiss Joint Operations Command, to Camp Butmir today, reaffirming the strong partnership between EUFOR and Switzerland in support of Operation Althea.

The meeting focused on the continued close cooperation between EUFOR and the Swiss Armed Forces, highlighting their shared commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Discussions also addressed Switzerland’s continued contribution to the mission and future opportunities to further strengthen operational cooperation.

Major General Fronda expressed his appreciation for Switzerland’s steadfast support, emphasizing that the commitment and professionalism of partner nations are fundamental to the success of Operation Althea. He noted that strong partnerships, mutual trust and interoperability remain key elements in ensuring that EUFOR continues to fulfil its mandate effectively.

Lieutenant General Michaud reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to the mission and welcomed the opportunity to further enhance cooperation with EUFOR. Both leaders acknowledged the importance of maintaining close coordination and a shared approach to supporting peace, stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit once again demonstrated the strength of the partnership between EUFOR and Switzerland and their common commitment to a stable and secure future for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
