The District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bijeljina, after three days of sending invitations to the addresses of 26 associates of the Potočari Memorial Center, for an interview at the Ministry of Interior, issued a statement. Among other things, it was said that it formed an object, in connection with the operations of the Memorial Center. All persons, who are potentially invited to the hearing, are questioned, as they said, in the capacity of witnesses.
“Within the scope of the case under the supervision of the acting prosecutor, measures and actions are undertaken with the aim of verifying the submitted information and reports, and in connection with the existence of grounds for suspicion of the commission of the criminal offense of tax and contribution evasion – from Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Republika Srpska. Consequently, there is a request of the acting prosecutor to collect documentation, as well as the undertaking of measures and actions by authorized officials, with the aim of verifying allegations and gathering evidence”.
The Delegation of the European Union and the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina made an announcement regarding the investigation conducted by the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bijeljina regarding the operations of the Memorial Center in Srebrenica.
“Given the considerable attention and concern of the public regarding the aforementioned events, we emphasize the importance of timely, transparent and accurate communication of judicial institutions with the public in cases of significant public interest. We call on the competent judicial authorities to proactively inform the public about the relevant facts, with full respect for the applicable procedural guarantees of all parties in the proceedings,” they stated in the announcement.
