In East Sarajevo, the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the NATO bombing on the territory of Republika Srpska in 1995 was marked. 47 soldiers and at least seven civilians were killed in the attacks, while more than a hundred people were wounded.
Alliance forces carried out attacks from August 30 to September 14, 1995.
The official reason for the bombing was the shelling of Sarajevo’s Markala market on August 28, 1995, when 43 civilians were killed by the explosion of five shells fired from the position of the Army of Republika Srpska.
Representatives of the institutions of Republika Srpska said that the suffering of the innocent must not be forgotten and that nurturing the culture of memory is a permanent obligation.
