In the Great Hall of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a commemoration was held for former member of the BiH Presidency and long-time parliamentarian Beriz Belkić.
In addition to the Belkić family, the commemorative session was attended by the highest officials, including members of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković.
Semir Efendić, the president of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that there are no words that would diminish the emptiness and sadness felt by the departure of such a great man as Beriz Belkić.
“Once again, I want to express my condolences to the family. All those who knew him speak of Beriz Belkić’s human qualities. He was always there when we needed him. He was and remains an example of how one can be in politics at the highest state positions and come out of everything with dignity, with a clean face and proud of his actions”, said Efendić in his address to those present.
Zvizdić pointed out that Beriz Belkić was a parliamentarian who always set an example for others with his dedicated work.
“We have cooperated during all these years and I know well the humanity, honesty and statesmanship that adorned Beriz both as a man and as a politician. There are few people who left such a deep mark and there are few people who will be remembered for their warmth and desire to always be close to every person. He will be remembered as a good man and a hardworking and good politician,” said Zvizdić.
Komšić stated that Beriz Belkić was a very, as the people say, agreeable and nice man.
“We gathered here today so that you can see that there are a lot of people who appreciate all that Beriz Belkić did. He was a man, a pleasant and kind man, a man you would be glad to meet anywhere. He was a peaceful man. He never he did not cross the line of decency, regardless of how much he disagreed with someone in a political or human attitude. Such people are rare, especially in this business we are engaged in – convenient, polite, nice, people who strive for compromise, who want a solution,” Komšić said.
