What was concluded at the Joint Meeting of FM BiH and FM Serbia?

Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic officially opened the new building of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Belgrade.

„A large number of people from BiH live in Serbia. They are studying here, receiving their medical treatments, dealing with trade or traveling, and they need us here at certain moments of their lives or they need some help from our diplomatic and consular representation offices. Relations between Serbia and BiH are getting more dynamic and versatile every day, and that is largely contributed by the embassies of BiH in Serbia and Serbia in BiH, but especially politics and politicians on both sides of the border,“ said Mirkic.

„I am sure that messages sent from here represent an introduction to what will follow in the near future, which is many joint projects, many good and positive things, a lot of joy and happiness between the people of Serbia and the peoples that are living in BiH. I believe that it is very important to say that we have to focus on further improvement of these relations in the future and a further improvement in two main directions. One is from Belgrade to Sarajevo, and it is very important to improve the dialogue between Serbs and Bosniaks and Belgrade and Sarajevo and to ensure that there is a larger amount of trust, greater sincerity and a greater readiness for communication in the period that will follow,“ said Minister Crnadak.

“The second direction that needs to give additional strength to our relations is the direction of the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska, one of the entities in BiH. The special relations that were defined in Dayton have been perceived as an obstacle to the development of relations between Serbia and BiH for a long time. That is absolutely wrong. This is one direction and one relationship that is quite emotional because we are the same people. In fact, this must represent an additional pillar in the relations between the two countries,“ said Minister Crnadak.

At the end, he emphasized that better infrastructure connectivity and stronger economic cooperation should be a framework for the common future of the two countries.

“In my opinion, one of the priorities for us is to make a road Sarajevo-Belgrade, which we, unfortunately, do not have yet. Better infrastructure connectivity and stronger economic cooperation need to be basis for our joint, good and prosperous future. Moreover, we are also sharing practically identical foreign political goals. Both Serbia and BiH want to be in the EU with the great proactive support of their citizens, and we already have a great cooperation there. I am convinced that this European framework will definitely put an end to all the bad things that happened in the past, not just between us but in the entire region as well,” concluded Minister Crnadak.
