Rapporteur of European Parliament for BiH Christian Dan Preda expressed the support of the European Parliament to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdic in his efforts on ensuring the adoption of the law on excise duties, and he invited all representatives of political parties that are present on the territory of BiH to form the majority that is necessary for the adoption of this law.
After the meeting in the building of the institutions of BiH in Sarajevo, he warned that this is a very important law, not only from the financial aspect but also for political reasons in a sense of ensuring further progress on the path towards EU.
After the meeting, Dan Preda noted that the European Parliament and all the EU institutions, in general, are still waiting for credible answers of BiH on the Questionnaire and in order to do so, he says, trust between all the actors that are part of the mechanism that already exists in the country is needed. He invited representatives of different institutions, working groups and other bodies to gather and work on harmonization of specific answers which, as he noted, is not impossible.
According to him, he talked with representatives from the field of culture on the possibilities of financing and other forms of support to important international festivals that are held in BiH and he also announced a major exhibition in the European Parliament in December.
Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdic stated that the diversity of topics that were discussed at this meeting is showing a high degree of interest of European institutions and officials for developments in BiH and the entire region.
“The most important thing for us is that the work of the Council of Ministers of BiH as a key generator of European integration is recognized, that BiH has the full support on its path towards the EU, but that some processes and activities can be developed much faster as well,” emphasized Minister Zvizdic.
