berlin2Balkan leaders were not invited to the conference which will be held in Berlin on August 28 but people who are nominally invited according to functions they carry, the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Germany Edin Dilberović said to FENA.

Ambassador Dilberović explained that not only countries of the Western Balkans were invited but also the EU members.

“Prime ministers, foreign ministers and ministers of economy of BiH, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and France were invited. It is expected for the next conference to be held in Vienna and after that in Paris since the goal of Berlin is to continue with this kind of conference and meetings,” Dilberović said.

The conference is organized on three levels. There will be a special conference just for ministers of economy which is one of the main topics.

“That part of the conference will be chaired by German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel, and will be attended by all the ministers of economy of the region,” Dilberović said.

He added that in that part of the conference, they will discuss economy exclusively but not in the sense of topics which are of interest for only one country but projects which are economic and regional in character and from which all participants will have benefits.

“The second part of the conference will be political and it will be held at the German Foreign Ministry. All foreign ministers will participate in this conference, including the BiH Foreign Minister. It will be hosted by the German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier,” Ambassador Dilberović said.

“In the end, a joint part of the conference, where both foreign ministers and ministers of economy will participate, will be held and this will be headed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” Dilberović said.

He added that the conference could be called political and economic in character and regional issues will be in focus and the EU issue.

“It is possible for someone to initiate other issues but those will have to be in the context of regional interest,” Dilberović told FENA.
