The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment against Miroslav Kraljević aka Mićo, the head of the Municipality of Vlasenica for inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance, the State Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.
The Prosecutor’s Office announced that on March 9, 2025, in his capacity as chief, Kraljević made a statement to the media in which he glorified persons who were finally convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
In March of last year, Kraljević expressed great respect for Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić, stating that they are “famous names that should be mentioned”, at a gathering on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the death of a soldier from Derventa on the Vlasenice battlefield, about which Detektor reported earlier.
“Because that’s who we are, that’s our reality. We’re all happy. Just like today, we’re all Mile Dodik, all of us in the National Assembly, and in the same or similar way we defend these achievements,” Kraljević said at the time.
Detektor recalled that the Prosecutor’s Office did not make a decision for months, after Bakira Hasečić, president of the “Woman Victim of War” Association, filed a criminal complaint against Kraljević.
Karadžić, the former president of the RS, and Mladić, the former commander of the Army of the Republika Srpska (VRS), were sentenced to life imprisonment before the Hague Tribunal for genocide and other crimes committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The court proceedings are ongoing against Kraljević, together with Radenko Stanić and Goran Garić, for the persecution of Bosniak civilians in Vlasenica – illegal imprisonment, murders, sexual abuse, torture, disappearances and other inhuman acts committed in 1992 and 1993. The indictment against them was confirmed in February 2018, and their trial, after several delays, began in October 2019.
In 2024, he was also reported for inappropriate behavior in the election campaign, which Detektor has already written about, but the report was rejected as unfounded, and Kraljević was elected to the same position for the third time.
The ban on glorifying war criminals or denying war crimes was introduced by amendments to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina imposed by High Representative Valentin Inzko in July 2021.
