Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić met today with the ambassador of France to BiH Roland Gilles, who congratulated him on becoming the mayor.

Gilles noted the connection of France with the city of Sarajevo, and expressed the conviction that the intensive and successful cooperation will continue in the future, and on this occasion he presented to Komšić the project ‘Sarajevo 2014’.

The year 2014 is symbolic for Sarajevo, because on that year 100 years since the beginning of the WW I is being marked and 30 years since the XIV Olympic Games in Sarajevo.

‘City of Sarajevo signed the partner agreement with France in July 2012 with the aim of joint marking of this anniversary’, said the ambassador.

From the period of 21 to 28 June 2014, Sarajevo and the entire BiH will be the stage of culture and art and sport events of global character, with the aim of promotion of peace, art, freedom, coexistence and communion in Europe and in the world.

On that occasion France and City of Sarajevo, with the help of the EU, have formed the Fund named ‘Sarajevo, the heart of Europe’, which will accept all the states and international organizations that want to become a part of the project ‘Sarajevo 2014’.

Mayor Komšić greeted this project and noted that it is indeed a great project which will certainly have positive influence not just on Sarajevo but on the entire BiH.
