The Logistics Consortium today informed the public, institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and regional partners that Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing a serious disruption of international road transport today.
“More than 100 transport vehicles were returned from the borders this morning, while around 2,000 tons of goods remained trapped in transport, without the possibility of being delivered to the European Union market,” they stated in the announcement.
The Consortium reminds that the largest part of international goods traffic in Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place through border crossings in the north of the country along the Sava River. These border crossings are key exit points for the BiH economy towards the European Union market. It is precisely on these routes that serious stoppages and vehicle rollbacks occur today.
“At the same time, we would like to emphasize that, according to the available information from the transport sector, the same level of problems has not been recorded on the routes through Serbia, and that good neighborly relations have enabled certain operational access at the crossings, including the route to Bajakovo. Also, on the route to Hungary, Serbia has managed to provide certain shifts or temporary solutions for its carriers,” the Consortium states.
They addressed the question to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Why does Bosnia and Herzegovina not have the same level of protection for its carriers and economy?
“If concrete steps are not taken urgently and direct talks are not initiated with the institutions of the European Union and neighboring countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina is facing a situation in which the import and export of goods are seriously threatened, and the supply chains are called into question. The Logistics Consortium of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on the institutions to react immediately, because every hour of waiting means new losses for companies, workers and the country’s economy. The time to react is now,” their statement reads.
