President of Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik attended on Sunday at the Jakovice transfer station in Sekovici the beginning of works on the gasification of the eastern part of RS.

President Dodik said that the issue of gasification must be resolved in RS and that the public needs to understand that gas is the energy source of the future and that it is available in sufficient quantities.

The President of RS emphasized that this gas pipeline, worth 74 million BAM, will be financed entirely from the republican budget and that municipalities need to develop distribution projects and recommended that they do so immediately.

The President of RS emphasized that the further design will be done very soon towards Sokolac, and highlighted the importance of the branch towards Bratunac and Srebrenica.

In his address, Dodik emphasized that RS is trying to systematically solve problems, noting that the construction and reconstruction of hospitals has been completed and that now work is starting on health centers and spas, together with the development of infrastructure, especially roads.

He stated that the construction of the highway from Visegrad towards Trebinje is awaited, which would be the closest route to the sea, and also pointed out that the construction of the highway towards Serbia is continuing.

The President stated that this main gas pipeline will cover several municipalities, from Sekovici to Han Pijesak including Milici and Vlasenica, and the industrial facilities located in that area.

“The intention is to extend from Milici towards Bratunac, and from Han Pijesak towards Sokolac and Pale, to go via Jahorina to Trnovo and further towards Foca and other parts of RS. This is the plan that we are starting to implement. It is financed from the budget of RS from which more than 70 million BAM will be allocated this year for this project, which is of key importance for the economy and the population,” said President Dodik.

In addition, he emphasized that by the end of the year, the reconstruction, modernization, and increase of capacity of all spas in RS will begin in order to give them the possibility to be competitive with others in the region and to attract as many tourists as possible.
