The contract foresees the exploitation of the Kolina River for hydro energetic purposes in the next 30 years and the construction of a plant with the power of 700 kW, with annual production of 3.1 GWh of electrical energy.

Total investment value is estimated to be around 2.3 million BAM, while the produced electrical energy, according to announcements, will entirely satisfy all needs of the local population of the local community Jabuka, as well as a part of needs of the Bosna-Podrinje Canton Goražde. Thanks to the contract, funds amounting to nearly 42.000 BAM will be paid to the budget of the canton on the name of one-time fee, and the contract will also be beneficial for citizens of the Foča Municipality in the FBiH and ecological organizations.

Local companies will be engaged on the construction of the mini hydro power plant that should be finished by October this year. According to announcements, the investment will improve the energy stability, and new employment is planned as well.

“The investment amounting to more than two million BAM will have positive effect on the very budget of the canton and on the overall economic activities of the canton,” said Emir Oković, the cantonal Prime Minister.

Oković added that the granting of this and similar concessions is included in the Government’s plans and that they are satisfied with the degree of meeting of liabilities from previous contracts.

Namely, the company EKO-REM already implemented several of their own projects at the territory of this canton, including the construction of mini hydro power plants on the MHE Kosova on the Kosovska River.
