The construction works on residential building with 20 apartments intended for socially vulnerable and displaced families started yesterday in Gorazde, and this object will be built within the Regional Residential Program (RSP), a multi-donor program that is managed by the Council of Europe Development Bank.

The implementer of the project is Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees of the FBiH, while local authorities provided the land, required documentation for the construction and utilities.

Minister Ramic emphasized the fact that Gorazde is a place with considerable number of displaced persons and refugees who haven’t resolved their residential issues yet. He explained that buildings, which are built in accordance with the principle of social housing, will be given to use to displaced persons and refugees who were previously selected through public call and who fulfil requirements of donors.

Regional residential program predicts housing for 5, 400 families in BiH, i.e., 14, 000 refugees and displaced persons. Total value of the project for BiH amounted to 101 million EUR, and the participation of our country is 15 million EUR.

The main donor of program is the EU, and significant financial participants are governments of the United States of America, Italy, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey etc. Resources within the RSP Fund are managed by the Council of Europe Development Bank, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) strongly supported this project.
