lasic2Construction of corridor 5C is of great significance for B&H because it is linking us in the international modern transportation network. So far, 92 kilometers of highway was constructed and put into operation in FB&H, and if all goes according to plans, new 32 kilometers will be constructed in 2016,” said Minister of Transport and Communications in FB&H Denis Lasic.

According to him, a total of 240 million EUR are secured for the construction of new sections so far.

Minister Lasic also said that the section Zenica South – Zenica North is planned to be completed in 2019. The construction of the section Svilaj – Odzak, in the length of 10.7 km, is taking place at the moment and completion is expected by the end of 2017. The priority are also motorway Lasva – Travnik and Zepce – Tuzla – Orasje.

Recently, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B&H and Minister of Finance and Treasury, Vjekoslav Bevanda signed a loan agreement with Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in B&H Ian Brown for the construction of the Corridor 5-C, whose value is 80 million EUR. This project will enable the construction of 7.2 kilometers of the highway on the subsection between Buna and Pocitelj, which is a continuation of the share Pocitelj – Bijaca, and 3.9 km on the subsection between Donja Gracanica and tunnel Zenica.

Lasic said that the agreement with the EBRD is extremely important because it is showing the ability and commitment of the Government of FB&H and the PU Highways of Federation for further construction of Corridor 5-C. The project will connect the Mostar region with the Adriatic coast, and finally close the financial construction of Zenica bypass.
