Construction of a roundabout in the settlement Square of Heroes, within the construction of the South Longitudinal in Sarajevo, commenced last week, said the Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo Nedžad Koldžo. Roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of the streets Porodice Ribar and Aleja lipa, and the investment is worth 290.000 BAM.
Because of the construction of the South Longitudinal, citizens will not be able to enter the parking behind the Loris building from Zvornička Street, and that is why the roundabout in the Square of Heroes is being built, to enable access to the parking. The Mayor stated that all necessary paperwork is collected and an agreement signed with the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton.
“Construction began last week and contractor was engaged by the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton. Roundabout will be built as a co-financed project between the Municipality and the Directorate by the principle where we give two thirds and they give one third of the necessary funds. The mentioned streets are very frequent and roundabout is the only solution,” Koldžo said.
Works should not take more than one month to complete.
