The Council today decided to extend the framework for restrictive measures in view of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a further twelve months, until 31 March 2027, the Council announced.
“The European Union will therefore retain its ability to impose targeted restrictive measures on individuals or entities undermining the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and international personality of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Restrictive measures may also be imposed against those who seriously threaten the security situation in the country or undermine the Dayton/Paris General Framework Agreement for Peace,” the statement said.
The restrictive measures under this framework, it said, consist of an asset freeze, a ban on making funds available and a travel ban for natural persons to the EU.
“Currently, no person or entity is subject to restrictive measures under this framework,” it added.
The Council is monitoring developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and may consider using all tools at its disposal should the situation in the country deteriorate. The Council reiterates its unequivocal commitment to the European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a single, united and sovereign state.
