The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, met on 30 March 2026 with the Assistant Minister (Northern Europe) in the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India, Pooja Kapur.
During the meeting, mutual satisfaction was expressed with the good and friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and India, and the importance of high-level visits and holding bilateral consultations was emphasized. It was emphasized that this continuity confirms the existence of a strong political will on both sides to intensify cooperation and develop concrete forms of partnership in the coming period.
The need to improve economic cooperation between the two countries, including increasing the volume of Indian investments, was particularly emphasized. It was emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a candidate country for membership in the European Union, welcomes the strengthening of relations between India and the European Union, and in this context, the comparative advantage of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Indian investors was highlighted, taking into account the possibility of easier access to the European Union market, geographical proximity and continuous harmonization of domestic legislation with the EU acquis.
The most promising sectors for improving investments and overall economic cooperation, in addition to infrastructure and the defense industry, were identified as agriculture and food production, automotive and metal industries, energy and IT sectors.
Minister Konaković highlighted India’s impressive economic growth, emphasizing that Bosnia and Herzegovina follows its development as one of the key drivers of the global economy and a technological leader with great interest.
Opinions were also exchanged at the meeting on current geopolitical topics, especially in the context of contemporary security challenges and their impact on global economic trends.
