The European Parliament will discuss the funeral of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić in Serbia and the glorification of war crimes in its plenary session today, according to the European Parliament’s daily announcement.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will address the representatives at 2:45 p.m., which will be followed by a discussion by representatives of political groups.
The topic is listed in the agenda of the European Parliament under the title “Mladić’s funeral and glorification of war crimes”.
Ratko Mladić, the wartime commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, was sentenced before the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts to life imprisonment for the genocide in Srebrenica, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He died on August 27 at the age of 85 in the custody unit of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Courts in Scheveningen.
