Counterfeit Sneakers estimated at 1.7 Million BAM were confiscated

Authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Administration at the Gradiška Customs office temporarily confiscated a large quantity of counterfeit sneakers, the value of which is estimated at 1,757,400 BAM.

It is particularly interesting, and can be seen in the video attached to the email, how the importer tried to “disguise” the import of counterfeits of well-known global sneaker brands.

A detailed inspection of the shipment that was declared for import customs clearance at the Customs office in Gradiška revealed a large quantity of goods that are justifiably suspected of infringing the trademarks of well-known international brands.

For this reason, 11,716 pairs of sneakers bearing the Nike and Puma trademarks were temporarily retained, the market value of which is estimated at 1,757,400 BAM.

The goods in question were retained due to the well-founded suspicion that there was a violation of intellectual property rights, as stated by the representatives of the holders of the mentioned internationally registered trademarks.

The customs authorities will undertake further official actions in accordance with the Decision on the implementation of customs measures for the protection of the rights of the trademark holder.

When taking measures within their competence, the authorized officials of the ITA used specialized equipment, donated by the US Embassy in BiH, through the EXBS Program, as well as by UNDP/UNODC.

The Directorate for Indirect Taxation of BiH invites all citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion to the ITA hotline number 080 02 06 07. All calls are free and completely anonymous, announced the Indirect Tax Administration.
