Courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to work on resolving the oldest cases, and according to the latest data, in the first six months of 2025, a total of 106,957 cases were resolved. This represents 64 percent of the annual plan for 2025, and the plan envisages resolving 167,822 cases. This result has further reduced the number of old, unresolved cases, and thus increased the efficiency of the courts and the judiciary as a whole.

72,354 cases were resolved in the Federation of BiH, 32,014 resolved cases in the Republika Srpska entity, 1,783 resolved cases in the Brčko District of BiH, and 806 resolved cases in the Court of BiH.

From 2010 to 30 June 2025, courts resolved more than two million oldest cases, which significantly reduced the total number of unresolved cases in courts across the country, according to the HJPC statement.

The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH emphasizes that the above results confirm the success of the long-standing practice of implementing plans for resolving the oldest cases, which the HJPC BiH introduced in 2011, all with the aim of speeding up procedures and strengthening citizens’ trust in the work of the judiciary.
