Covic: Any further Encroachment into changes to Election Law would be unacceptable

We have the Constitution of the Federation and the Election Law that touches on the elections in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. With all that the High Representative has done in the past, I think this is a sufficient framework and that any further encroachment into changes to the Constitution of the Federation and the Election Law would be unacceptable, stated today in Mostar the president of the HDZ BiH Dragan Čović.

He added that there is a clear framework in which the election results can be implemented within 30 days and that everyone should do their part.

“Maybe it’s good to shed light on that element of the blockades. I think that this week Lidija Bradara will initiate the procedure of talks with the potential Prime Minister of the FBiH Government and only then, we can agree on potential portfolios because we have not discussed these issues at all,” said Čović in a press statement during the HDZ BiH Presidency session.

He also commented on the last statement of the Raisu-l-ulama Husein Kavazović and said that their position is very clear, that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs peace, the rule of law and that young people should be given a chance through the European process and European integration.

“This is pressure in order to maintain the status quo. It is impossible to maintain the status quo any longer, we must move forward and give Bosnia and Herzegovina a chance,” said Čović.

He also said that the 14th General Assembly of the HDZ BiH will be held on Saturday, May 6, in Mostar, and that on this occasion, the President, the Presidency, the Central and Supervisory Boards will be elected.
