HDZ party President Dragan Čović told RTV HB on Thursday evening that Elmedin Konaković was the first to say that Bosniaks should not elect a member of the BiH Presidency to Croats.
At the beginning, he said that even today, when he talks to all the representatives of the international community, they all say that “it makes no sense for Croats to be elected representatives, to ever be that Komšić again”.
On the host’s suggestion to Čović that he himself said that “nobody needs Croats to elect representatives” and that everyone repeats that, but when the moment comes to agree on it, nothing happens, Čović said that Konaković was the most constructive in that sense.
“The first one to say that was Mr. Konaković and in Neum three years ago and today he was the most constructive, that is, these days, when we made an agreement, about the budget, about this approach. One wonders how it can be changed by the end of the second month (Electoral Law ), so how can it not be? It’s not just the last two months, it’s the last five years. We don’t have the capacity to change the Constitution. Then let’s change what we can through the Election Law. Take one step forward,” said Čović.
When asked by the presenter if he has any information that anyone is bothered by something from his proposal for the Electoral Law that he published on Monday, Čović said that the Five (HDZ, SNSD and Troika) are not bothered by anything.
“The five of us, nothing. Let’s try the Constitution, if it can do something else, if it can’t, that’s one of the solutions. If we change the Constitution, we will have that solution again (his proposal from Monday). In truth, he will not be called a Croatian member of the Presidency. He will to be a representative of the Croatian people and the Others. Among the Bosniaks, he will be a representative of the Bosniak people and the Others,” Cović said, Klix.ba writes.
