The chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Dragan Covic attended the reception for heads of state and government organized by the secretary general Antonio Guterres prior to the opening of the main debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

Guterres opened the main debate, who said that only through unity can the world achieve peace, trust and prosperity. He especially mentioned refugees since, as he says, we’re not just facing a refugee crisis but also a lack of solidarity.

The chairman of the main debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak spoke about youth, saying that the promises about development and environmental protection given to the next generation must be fulfilled.

The chairman of the Presidency of BiH met with Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO general secretary, at the sidelines of the first day of the main debate, and briefly informed him about the developments of BiH towards Euroatlantic integrations. He also met with Filip Vujanovic, the president of Montenegro, Aleksandar Vucic, the president of Serbia, Andrej Plenkovic, the prime minister of Croatia, Miro Cerar, the prime minister of Slovenia, and Sebastian Kurz, the minister of foreign affairs of Austria.

Covic will address the General Assembly on Wednesday morning, according to the Presidency of BiH.
