Dragan Čović, Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH), met today at the premises of the European Union (EU) Delegation to BiH with ambassadors from EU member states, led by the Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Luigi Soreca.
They discussed the General Elections, expectations for the coming period, the formation of government at all levels, and key initiatives related to BiH’s European path.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of institutional stability and functionality, as well as the swift implementation of reform processes, which will facilitate necessary progress in both domestic and foreign policy.
On this occasion, Speaker Čović highlighted the significance of the recent General Elections, which, he noted, resulted in the legitimate representation of the Croat people across all government bodies—most notably within the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He underscored the need to enshrine such legitimate representation within the Election Law of BiH, thereby contributing to long-term internal stability and overall development. He expressed an expectation for accelerated action regarding the formation of government, the implementation of reforms, and the advancement of robust development processes in BiH.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the implementation of European reforms is of critical importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and reaffirmed that Croat officials remain firmly committed to the urgent realization of these key priorities. Čović specifically expressed his condolences regarding the deaths of EUFOR personnel who perished in a helicopter crash in Bosnia and Herzegovina, conveying his personal gratitude for their contribution to preserving peace and stability in BiH, the Office of the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH announced.
