The President of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović and the Deputy President of the HDZ of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Darijana Filipović spoke in Mostar with the ambassadors of the “Group of Friends” of the Western Balkans.

The current political moment in Bosnia and Herzegovina was at the center of the conversation, where special attention was paid to the country’s progress on the European path and key reforms necessary to strengthen the stability and functionality of institutions, HDZ BiH announced.

Today’s meeting was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia Ivan Sabolić, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jana K. Lolić Šindelková, Ambassador of Slovakia Roman Hlobeň, Ambassador of Slovenia Damijan Sedar, Ambassador of Italy Sarah Eti Castellani, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria Georg Diwald and Ambassador of Greece Ioanna Efthymiadou.

Čović emphasized the importance of further implementation of reform steps and strengthening cooperation with international partners in order to speed up the reform processes, which are of crucial importance for the European perspective of BiH.

He once again emphasized the exceptional importance of the support of the “Group of Friends” of the Western Balkans, which he highlighted as crucial in the current political and economic context.

It was also jointly emphasized that the unresolved issue of state property is a priority open issue as an obstacle to the implementation of strategic development projects and the further and necessary economic growth of BiH, stated the HDZ of BiH.

The need for accelerated dialogue and the finding of a satisfactory solution that will enable a stable institutional framework for the realization of investments and economic growth was highlighted.

In the light of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement, special emphasis was placed on the need to ensure the institutional equality of all three constituent peoples, and especially the Croatian people, and the need to ensure a long-term stable political dialogue that will ensure the necessary progress of the country.

The ambassadors expressed their strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European path and emphasized the importance of further active cooperation of all political actors in order to successfully implement reforms and preserve peace, stability and territorial integrity of BiH.

It was concluded that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s recent progress on the European path, achieved in the light of the Reform Agenda under the leadership of the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, represents an important incentive for the continuation of reform processes and harmonization with European standards.

At the end, it was pointed out that the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to work dedicatedly to strengthen the European perspective of BiH, the stability of institutions and the protection of the legitimate political representation of the Croatian people, confirming its role as a key and reliable partner in the process of European integration, the statement reads.
