Covic wrote to the Bundestag: Radical Circles in BiH are advocating unconstitutional Solutions

The Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Dragan Covic sent a letter to the President of the Bundestag Barbel Bas and to the delegates of the Bundestag, in which he stated that Croatian political representatives are in favor of changes to the Constitution and electoral legislation in BiH, which would implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court so that all citizens, regardless of nationality and religion, could run for political office, as well as “to prevent engineering, according to which the majority Bosniak people impose representatives on Croats in the House of Peoples of BiH and the Presidency of BiH.”

Covic sent this letter on the occasion of the motion for a resolution of the SPD, FDP, and the Greens factions, entitled: “Support BiH on the Path to a Better Future.”

”Despite the good intentions of some German representatives, the draft resolution has become one of a number of instruments of radical circles in BiH advocating unconstitutional solutions and domination over Croats as the smallest of the three constituent peoples, but also minorities such as Jews and the Romani people,” he stated in the letter, adding that attacks on Croatian symbols and monuments, as well as Catholic churches, and cemeteries are becoming more frequent.

He emphasized that the goal for Croats is a complete, stable, and functional BiH under the auspices of the European Union (EU) and NATO as opposed to unconstitutional unitarism and separatism.

He welcomed the interest of Germany as one of the most important partner countries and prominent members of the EU for the current political situation and support for BiH on its path to the EU and NATO and called on German officials to co-operate in building BiH in which the Constitution will be respected and the rule of law strengthened.
