CRA’s Decision to fine Local TV is a way to introduce Media Darkness

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, condemned the unprofessional and tendentious move of the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA), which imposed a draconian sentence on Face TV and its editor Senad Hadžifejzović.

He stated in the announcement that the Agency showed with this scandalous decision on a disproportionately high penalty that it acts exclusively in the spirit of destructive policies.

“The CRA decision is a way to introduce media darkness, that is, the suppression of critical thinking and media freedom in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unfortunately, it is obvious that true media freedom, independence and transparent work of the media do not correspond to those political structures that should work to strengthen them,” he said.

Bećirović pointed out that the actions of the Agency’s Director regarding Face TV and journalist Senad Hadžifejzović are unacceptable, especially considering that he represents an important agency of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He reminds that CRA, which is now headed by Draško Milinović, previously imposed as many as 19 enforcement measures, i.e. sanctions, against RTRS and Milinović for partiality to one policy, for censorship, i.e. violation of the postulate of professional reporting.

“It is inadmissible for Milinović to behave similarly in the position of CRA Director. We hope that the Agency will act by the regulations and the law, which would enable journalists and media houses to have an environment where they can professionally carry out their task of objectively informing the public without pressure,” emphasized Bećirović.
