Criminal Complaint due to Competition for Heads of Police Agencies in BiH

The Independent Committee of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina a list of successful candidates for the appointment to the leadership positions of director and deputy director of the police bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The procedure for the selection of heads of police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina has not yet been completed. The final word will be given by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As it could be heard from the president of the Independent Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, which has completed its work at least for now, the whole process was transparent, legal, according to all rules and regulations. 21 people were registered for this competition. During the interview, only one application was rejected, due to, as stated, incomplete documentation.

The candidate for the position of director of the BiH Border Police, Svevlad Hoffman, reacted strongly, claiming that the entire process of electing the heads of police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina was non-transparent and illegal. Hoffman requested the exemption of the president and all eight members of this independent body because, as he said, he expects the BiH Council of Ministers to suspend the entire process and return it to the beginning. If the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not accept his requests, Hoffman will, he announced, turn to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina with his lawyer.

He has already reacted to the State Prosecutor’s Office, filing a criminal complaint against the chairman of the Independent Board, Enes Obralija, due to, as he said, an illegally conducted competition procedure.
