Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first billionaire among footballers, after his fortune was estimated at $1.4 billion, writes the news agency “Bloomberg”.
The report states that Ronaldo has long earned almost the same amount of money as Argentine footballer Lionel Messi, who is considered by many to be his main rival, but that in 2023 there was a big difference between the two when it comes to finances.
Ronaldo signed a contract with the Football Club (FC) “Al Nasr” in Saudi Arabia worth $200 million. Messi’s salary is not that large, but he will have a financial stake in FC “Inter Miami”, in which he currently plays, and after the end of his professional career he could have the same wealth as Ronaldo.
The Portuguese has won five Champions League titles, one European Championship and two Nations Leagues during his long and successful career. He is the best scorer in history when it comes to national team goals and the first footballer in history to score 900 goals in competitive matches.
