Croatian HDZ Party claims that BiH Presidency Member “misled Ukrainians”

Delegates from the HDZ BiH in the Club of Croats of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH issued a statement criticizing the departure of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, to Ukraine. They state again that it is “a continuation of the policy of misrepresentation, swindling and shaming the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, given that Komšić, as the HDZ constantly emphasizes, “was elected by Bosniak votes to the position of a ‘Croatian’ member of the BiH Presidency”. They also deny his departure as a member of the BiH Presidency. The shirt in which he appeared is also disputed.

In the press release, they state that Komšić ignored the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has had one flag and one coat of arms since May 19, 1998 under which BiH representatives operate at the state level, this time he “misled the suffering Ukrainian people and the President of Ukraine with his sign of the lily during an official visit.” .

“Long ago, Željko Komšić, without any doubt, showed that he lost the ability to respect the constitutional order of this country and at the same time confirmed his readiness and intentions to violate the Dayton Agreement for Peace in BiH, the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as disrespect for the rule of law”, the Croatian delegates from the HDZ BiH in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament stated in a press release.

They add that as a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić had a legal and moral obligation to promote stability and reconciliation, and not act contrary to that.

“In a decent society there is no place for an irresponsible foreign policy, a violation of BiH institutions and a policy of misrepresentation that means betraying the best interests of those who, unfortunately, were led to place their trust in him. We call on the competent institutions and the Office of the High Representative to take appropriate measures in order to protect the constitutional order and prevent damage to the reputation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, concludes the statement of the Croatian delegates from HDZ BiH in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament.

However, nowhere in the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina does it say that there is a “Bosniak”, “Croat” or “Serb” member of the BiH Presidency. The members of the Presidency represent all nations, i.e. all citizens in the country. Also, according to the Constitution, anyone who has the right to vote could vote for Komšić, and his place of residence is the Federation of BiH entity, N1 reports.
