Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said here on Wednesday that as a friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) she wishes well for the BiH progress towards the EU and NATO membership.

During the meeting with the BiH Presidency members in BiH’s capital Sarajevo, Grabar-Kitarovic expressed hope that BiH and Croatia will ameliorate, emphasizing the linkage in many spheres of relations between the two neighboring states.

The emphasis of the talks was put on the openness of the dialogue between two countries, intensification of the future communication and resolution of the open issues.

“I am glad that we have agreed on intensifying our communication, talking  more often and working to resolve the open issues, ” Grabar-Kitarovic said. For his part, member of BiH Presidency Dragan Covic called on Grabar-Kitarovic to use her country’s position in the EU to help BiH to obtain a candidate status in the EU this year and not in a distant future.

“I am glad to be in Sarajevo to give my support as a friend of BiH who does not want anything but well for the EU and NATO progress,” Grabar-Kitarovic added.Grabar-Kitarovic pointed on the tremendous potential BiH and Croatia have in bilateral relations, especially when it comes to the economy.

“Croatia has invested almost one billion euros in BiH’s economy and trade was close to 1.6 billion euros in 2017 and there are nearly 200 Croatian companies in BiH,” Grabar-Kitarovic explained.

“BiH will not have a better proponent of the European road from Croatia, and that is the same for the NATO accession,” Grabar-Kitarovic concluded.
