Cudic: Ukraine does not need a Dayton Agreement that would put Half of the Country under Moscow’s Influence

A meeting on the future of the European Union (EU) was held in The Hague, organized by European liberals, with an emphasis on its enlargement. One of the invited panelists was Sabina Cudic, President of the Main Board of Our Party – Nasa stranka (NS)

She spoke about Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

”Ukraine does not need a new Dayton peace agreement that would put half of the country under Moscow’s influence. The experience of BiH shows that such subservience to nationalists only results in new crises and a dysfunctional system produced by secessionist autocrats like Milorad Dodik.

We need a brave vision of Europe, thanks to which we will ensure the territorial integrity of Ukraine and deal with malignant Russian influence in other parts of the continent.

I am thinking primarily of BiH, but it is not present only there. It is also present in Serbia, and indecisive voices when it comes to a tougher approach to Russia can be heard from the EU itself,” said, among other things, Cudic.

Regarding the reasons for going to The Hague, Cudic said:

”In addition to the gathering itself, I am here to talk with prominent politicians from the Netherlands, and the sister parties of NS, which form the ruling coalition in the Netherlands today.

Among other things, I came to personally thank them for the courageous moves of the Netherlands when it comes to opposing the demands of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), as well as all nationalists in BiH, and the important positions they took when it comes to the Strategic Compass, the constituency in the BiH Constitution, the leadership that was ultimately followed by Germany.

We must cultivate international friendships that are crucial for a civic BiH, and offer true information to the friends of BiH.”

Guy Verhofstadt, former Prime Minister of Belgium, now a member of the European Parliament, a supporter of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, and a friend of BiH, also spoke with Cudic. Verhofstadt has publicly agreed with Sabina Cudic. Helmut Brandstatter, an Austrian parliamentarian, also spoke at the panel.
