Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Zeljka Cvijanovic wrote to the head of the European Union (EU)Delegation Luigi Soreca and EUFOR commander Major General Florin-Marian Barbu.
In the letter, she informed them about the session of the Presidency at which her colleagues Zeljko Komsic and Denis Becirovic submitted a request to EUFOR to arrest the president of the entity Republika Srpska (RS) Milorad Dodik, for whom a central arrest warrant has been issued.
“Without the desire and contrary to the constitutional obligation to attempt to reach consensus, they voted for the adoption of political conclusions by which EUFOR is called upon to assist in the arrest of the democratically elected president of RS, Milorad Dodik,” Cvijanovic stated.
She added that the adopted conclusions will be subject to decision-making at the next session.
“If the other two members stick to their rigid positions and continue to outvote me, I will be forced to invoke the protection of vital national interest in the National Assembly of RS (NARS),” emphasized Cvijanovic.
She reiterated the SNSD’s position, which considers that the solution to the crisis caused by the RS leadership is an internal dialogue, despite the stance of pro-Bosnian parties that there will be no talks with Dodik, who is attacking the state through his actions.
“I consider the preservation of peace and stability to be of crucial importance for all peoples in BiH, and therefore I appeal to you not to undertake actions that would further deepen the crisis,” Cvijanovic emphasized in the letter.
