Accompanied by his pilot, the blind cyclist Lazar Filipović is already traditionally a participant in the cycling marathon “Kragujevac-Mostar” that is ridden by cyclists of the Paralympic academy “Junior” and that headed from Mostar two days ago.
This tandem loves the capital of BiH a lot. They said that they always love to respond to the invitation by the organizers and cross the route from Kragujevac to Sarajevo.
“In this way, we are also preparing for the upcoming European Championship, and this became a tradition for us. The first route was from Kragujevac to Užice, and then from Višegrad to Sarajevo. People already recognize us, they greet us and we are welcome everywhere. This form of cycling has a sport character and is definitely more than just a game. We have been coming to Mostar for 13 years already, and this is one of the ways to connect cities in Serbia and BiH,” said Filipović.
Filipović said he also loves to come to the event of diving jumps at Bentbaša, because Sarajevo is a different city from other cities in the region. Secretary General of the Paralympic academy “Junior” Goran Nikulić said that the idea to launch this event was born after the reconstruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar in 2004.
Between 15 and 20 participants take part in this event every year, and this is the favorite destination for all cyclists, given the route that they cross. Finances are a problem for us, otherwise we would have as much as 50 participants. People from Čačak, Belgrade and Kruševac also participate,” Nikulić said.
These cyclists ride their bikes with heart and do everything with pleasure.
The thirteenth traditional cycling marathon “Kragujevac-Mostar 2016” has four stages: Kragujevac-Užice, Užice-Višegrad, Višegrad-Sarajevo and Sarajevo-Mostar.
