The damage suffered by the farmers in Semberija in the stormy weather in July was estimated at almost two million BAM, the City Administration of Bijeljina announced.

Of that, 1.8 million BAM is damage to greenhouses, and the remaining 200,000 BAM to orchards and corn.

Sreten Vučković from the city’s Department of Agriculture says that 580 requests for damage assessment and compensation have been submitted, of which 502 requests relate to damaged greenhouses, 56 to storm-damaged corn fields and 22 to orchards.

After Bijeljina was hit by a storm with wind gusts exceeding 100 kilometers per hour on July 19, a state of natural disaster was declared and four commissions were formed to visit all locations where damage to agricultural land was reported.

Three more commissions for the assessment of damage to more than 260 reported individual and collective buildings will finish their work tomorrow.
