Tennis National Team of BiH will travel to Vilnius on Sunday, where they will play the match of the final, third round of the Davis Cup with selection of Lithuania in the II group of Europe/Africa zone from the 16th to 18th of September 2016.
Our team includes the same players who defeated the Turkish team in July as part of 2nd round that was played in Bihac: Damir Dzumhur, Mirza Basic, Tomislav Brkic and Nerman Fatic.
Captain Amer Delic is not able to lead our team in this round for family reasons, and his place in Vilnius will replace an experienced tennis coach Aljosa Piric, who was previously part of the BH team, among others, when our players made quite surprise when they defeated favored team of Finland in Helsinki back in 2014.
For Lithuania will play: Laurynas Grigelis, Lukas Mugevicius, Tadas Babelis, Tomas Vaise and captain Rimvydas Mugevicius.
This match is very important since it takes the winner on higher competition, in I group of Europe/Africa zone, which is the goal of our team. Representation of Lithuania was the one that stopped our tennis players on the way to the final round in 2014 in Sarajevo, but this time the role of favorite belongs to our selection due to better shape and personal ranking of our players, but also due to the fact that Lithuania’s best tennis player, Ricardas Berankis, will not be playing. However, the hosts are counting on home advantage and a huge support from the fans in the Siemens Arena in Vilnius, which receives 10 000 of spectators.
Matches will be played on hard courts from the 16th to 18th of September, and the draw of pairs will be done on Thursday, the 15th of September 2016.
