On the occasion of Mother Language Day, from Friday to Sunday, February 23 to 25, a youth camp called “My mother language, my Bosnian language” was held in the premises of Wendelsberg School in Gothenburg.

Young speakers of the Bosnian language, students, high school students enrolled in the Bosnian language in secondary schools in Halmstad and Gothenburg participated in the project.

The project was designed and led by Bosnian language teachers Amela Isanović and Almedin Spahić, in cooperation with the abstinence organization NBV, which was the general sponsor of this meeting.

Teachers and students had significant support in the preparation and realization of the project from Sabaheta Salkić Vehabović in front of NBV.

During the youth’s stay at the Wendelsberg school, an exhibition about narcotics and the dangers of drug use was set up.

On the first day after arrival, a lecture on “Drugs are dangerous” was organized by Johan Holm, in front of NBV. Saturday and Sunday were reserved for lectures and workshops in which the focus was on the importance of learning the mother language, multilingualism and historical heritage, and the development of the Bosnian language.

As part of the project, the youth had the opportunity to socialize, meet, learn, participate in workshops, sing Bosnian songs, watch Bosnian films and repeat what they learned through these activities. The excellent hosts of the Wendelsberg School made sure that the hotel accommodation and food were at a high level. The wonderful natural environment served for walking and resting.

The project was also supported by his visit to the ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sweden, His Excellency Bojan Šošić, who addressed the youth and answered the questions through a very affirmative and inspiring approach.

The gathering ended on Sunday, with a film festival where the youth had the opportunity to present their short films that they shot on the topic: “Why is it important to speak the Bosnian language”, Klix.ba writes.
