After decades have passed since serious construction works, in spring next year the first phase of reconstruction of 13 football stadiums will begin in BiH. After several months of negotiations with leaders of the European Football Association and the leaders of the Football Association of BiH led by Elvedin Begić and his colleagues, the money was ensured from UEFA funds for this renovation project. This could serve as the guidelines for future projects for the complete renovation of sports infrastructure in BiH, according to Slobodna Bosna.
This is a grant that is worth around 1 million euros, which the BiH Football Association agreed with UEFA officials. Clearly, this amount is insufficient for a thorough reconstruction of the local stadium, but it is good for a start.
Thirteen clubs were selected for the beginning phase for reconstruction of their stadiums, which are: Sarjaevo, Željezničar, Olimpica, Slavija, Zrinjski, Velež, Leotar, Široki, Travnik, Čelik, Rudar, Borac and Zvijezda. Clubs were chosen based on seniority in the Premiere League.
After these 13 clubs, money will be given to the rest of the teams that played in Premiere League. In the first part of the program these 13 teams will receive 89 thousand euros each, which they could use for the restoration of grass in their stadiums.
