The debt of the Federation of BiH at the end of June reached 8.76 billion KM and in just six months it increased by 1.57 billion KM.
The debt, which amounted to 6.09 billion KM at the end of 2023, reached 8.76 billion KM at the end of June this year.
In two and a half years, the debt thus increased by 2.67 billion KM, that is, by almost 44 percent.
Data from the Federal Ministry of Finance show that growth was uneven.
At the end of 2024, the debt amounted to 6.46 billion KM, while at the end of 2025 it reached 7.19 billion KM, and only in the first six months of this year it increased by about 1.57 billion KM.
The largest part of the increase refers to external debt, which increased from 5.45 billion KM at the end of March to almost 6.95 billion KM at the end of June. This is a growth of approximately 1.5 billion KM in just three months.
In the same period, the internal debt increased much less, from about 1.79 to 1.81 billion KM.
At the end of June, external debt accounted for almost four fifths of the Federation’s total debt.
According to the repayment profile of the federal Ministry of Finance, the Federation expects hundreds of millions of KM in annual obligations in the coming years.
About 458 million KM is planned for this year, about 659 million for 2027, and about 630 million KM for 2028.
In 2029, the obligations grow to about 802 million KM, a year later they exceed one billion KM, that is, for the year 2030, repayment of about 1.27 billion KM is foreseen.
The biggest bill will arrive in 2031, when the FBiH, according to the current repayment profile, should service about 2.06 billion KM of debt, of which as much as 1.92 billion is related to external debt.
