Decrease in Number of Tourist Arrivals and Overnight Stays in Republika Srpska Entity

In January 2020, the number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays in Republika Srpska entity (RS) decreased by 13 percent compared to a month earlier, according to data from the entity’s Bureau of Statistics.

There were 25,272 tourist arrivals, while the number of overnight stays (77,163) was 10.5 percent higher than in December last year.

However, the number of tourist arrivals in January 2020 in this BiH entity, compared to the same month of the previous year, increased by 14.8 percent, while the number of overnight stays increased by 16.2 percent.

In January 2020, there were 15,041 foreign tourists staying in that BiH entity, with 51,198 overnight stays.

The largest number of guests was from Serbia (4,654), staying a total of 14,402 nights.

Entity statistics show that the number of nationals of Croatia was 4,131, with 19,309 overnight stays, while Slovenia recorded 1,524 visits and 4,102 overnight stays.

The number of tourists (4,723) who stayed in RS in January 2020 compared to December 2019 decreased, as well as the number of overnight stays (24,357).

There were more arrivals in mountain centers (7,948) and significantly more overnight stays (30,673), while the largest number of guests stayed in other tourist resorts, with 11,835 arrivals and 20,174 overnights.

Tourists were mostly accommodated in hotels and similar accommodation (24,510).

In January 2020, the RS had 10,796 permanent beds in tourist facilities.
