A unique exhibition, “Del Prado on the Streets” was opened at Trg Oslobođenja – Alija Izetbegović in Sarajevo. The exhibition brings to all citizens high-resolution photographs of the world’s most important artists from the rich collection of the Spanish National Museum in Madrid.

Thirty masterpieces by the great masters of Spanish painting offer visitors a journey through the different schools that make up the artistic landscape of the permanent collection of the Museo del Prado, one of the world’s most important art treasures.

“Del Prado on the streets” is a project that for 9 years has allowed the works of this museum to occupy public spaces on the streets of different cities around the world. The Sarajevo installation is the first in the Balkans.

MARIA TEREZA LIZARANZU PERINAT, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Bosnia and Herzegovina

If something is a symbol of my country of Spain and if it deserves to be displayed, it is definitely the Prado museum and its collection. And definitely, if we need to single out one city where to show this collection, it is Sarajevo, because Sarajevo simply deserves it because of its specificity and culture and cooperation.

FRANCISCO TARDIO BAEZA, Head of International Relations of the Museo del Prado

High resolution photos are part of our project to bring a wider audience outside of Spain to see and enjoy the masterpieces of the world’s great painters from our collection of the Prado Museum. After South America, China and the USA, it reached the Balkans

Without crowds, in peace and without haste, and even for free, the people of Sarajevo have the opportunity to enjoy the works of famous world authors. Top-notch street art is a welcome refreshment. The exhibition “del Prado on the streets” is a significant cultural collaboration between our country and Spain, which is extremely interested in its continuation, which would include the presentation of original Spanish art in our country, but also the presentation to the Spanish public of rich and unique manuscript treasures from Gazi Husrev-bey and others Bosnian and Herzegovina libraries, BHRT writes.
