Delegation from Republika Srpska to begin official Visit to Russia Today

The President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, and three other deputies are starting their official visit to the Russian Federation today.

Stevandić emphasized that this visit is a regular activity and that it has nothing to do with the events in Ukraine or the relations between Russia, the United States of America and NATO.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, states that the visit from Republika Srpska to the Russian Federation is expected, but that it is not good because of the relations and non-unified attitude towards Russia.

The parliamentary visit from the Republika Srpska to the Russian Federation from today to the 23rd of this month is being implemented based on earlier agreements and in no way disturbingly any other relations, claims the Speaker of the RS Parliament Nenad Stevandić.

“Relations between the RSFSR and the Russian Duma are older than these events and they were established earlier and are not harmful to BiH, which still benefits from these relations, which means twice the price of gas, and spins are already being sent that we from the RS are leading the Russian and pro-Russian policy, which is untrue,” says Stevandić.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina called the visit expected. It would be unexpected, he believes, if a delegation from the RS traveled to Great Britain, although he does not consider it a good move due to the current non-uniform attitude in the country about Russia and sanctions.

Some analysts of international relations point out that the public pays more attention to these things than it should, even though the visit, they say, may have different connotations at the moment.

“The National Assembly has and has had cooperation with many parliaments, including the Russian one, and there were a lot of contacts before. This is happening now only in different geopolitical circumstances, which causes various connotations, but cooperation should never be refused, after all as some way towards calming the situation,” says international relations professor Miloš Šolaja.

“So far, there have been a million such visits, both on one side and on the other, and on a third party. Maybe at the time of sanctions against Russia, they are not welcome, but I believe that this is news that will last and be forgotten, suppressed by some other news that is much more significant and agreements that are much more significant,” columnist Zvonimir Nikolić believes.

In addition to the meeting with the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is planned, along with several other meetings within the Duma.
