03A delegation from Vatican have visited Sarajevo in order to study the project of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was planned for 6th June 2015.

The Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Monsignor Ivo Tomasevic, said that the delegation from Vatican is informed of the project of visit and that they will closely consider it in Vatican.

“When it has been definitely decided, complete program will be announced. The delegation has examined some places, and all will be decided in Vatican. On all pastoral visits, the Holy Mass is necessarily held, that is central event on which gather a big number of believers, and  meetings with priests, bishops and nuns are held“, said Monsignor Tomasevic.

Pope has already announced the interreligious dialogue, so on that occasion other meeting will be held, but all that is in the phase of agreement. The superiors will be informed about proposals, but Pope will make the final decision.

Visit will be simple, it is for sure, and it  is needed to define where the Holy Mass and the meeting with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held.

When Pope John Paul II visited Sarajevo, the Holly Mass was held on the stadium Kosevo, and the meeting with the spiritual persons was held in the Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo. Still it is not confirmed will it be same during the visit of Pope Francis to Sarajevo.

As the Monsignor Tomasevic said, the assumption is that Pope Francis will arrive in the morning and that will stay all day.The large number of believers from all around Bosnia and Herzegovina and region is expected at the Holy Mass.

We remind that Pope Francis has announced to believers gathered in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican on 1st February that he will visit the capital of BiH. As it has been announced, Pope wants to strengthen efforts in the strengthening of fraternal relations in our country, which was affected by war 20 years ago.
