Delegations lay Flowers at Eternal Flame Memorial (video)

Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, on the occasion of BiH Statehood Day, this morning paid their respects and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial.

As part of the marking of November 25 – BiH Statehood Day, delegations from all levels of government, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of BiH, the Sarajevo Canton, municipalities, SABNOR, coordination of veterans’ organizations, paid their respects and laid the Eternal Flame at the Memorial.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Bakir Izetbegović, Minister of Defense of BiH Sifet Podžić, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH Ahmet Halilović, delegation of the Government of FBiH, vice presidents of the Federation of BiH Milan Dunović and Melika Mahmutbegović, delegation of representatives of the Federal Parliament of BiH laid flowers.

The delegation of Sarajevo Canton was led by the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Edin Forto.

Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, held a reception on the occasion of BiH Statehood Day in the City Hall last night.

On that occasion, Komšić reminded that this year marks the 79th anniversary of the first session of the ZAVNOBiH, held on November 25, 1943 in the town of Mrkonjić, that is, since the formation of the first republic in the history of the statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized that the feat of the generation of people from 1943 is epoch-making, and, historically speaking, it can be compared to the efforts of those people from Bosnia and Herzegovina who in the period from 1992 to 1995 managed to preserve the framework of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to preserve its state-legal continuity.

Regardless of all the current agreements and solutions with which they operate, Komšić expressed his belief that this proud country can achieve full democracy and protect the rights of every citizen.

“The centuries-old history of our Bosnia and Herzegovina obliges us to do so, and that’s why I want to say – Bosnia and Herzegovina has no price and is not for sale! Happy once again the Day of renewed statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” these are the words of BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić.

Bećirović also said that in the last thousand years, the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina has made it through what no other state could, and despite everything, it survived.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has always had the strength to withstand even the heaviest attacks and defiantly and proudly correct itself. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most stable and durable European countries,” stated Bećirović.

The progressive forces, he said, must persistently and patiently build a more positive social environment in the country, which will give birth to good for all people.

The reception in the City Hall was attended by numerous dignitaries from public life – representatives of various levels of legislative and executive power, political, religious, cultural milieu and the judiciary, the diplomatic corps, and among the dignitaries was the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Igor Kalabukhov, Fena news agency reports.
