Demand for timber Assortments in TC is four Times higher than planned Possibilities

The wood industry and forestry in the Tuzla Canton (TC) area are a very important economic sector, primarily due to the fact that they employ around 4.000 workers.

Public enterprise (PE) “Forests TC” operates at 79.000 hectares of forest area in this Canton. According to the acting director of PE “Forests”, Kadrija Omazic, the demand for their timber assortments is currently four times higher than planned possibilities.

More than 50 wood-processing companies have been registered in the TC area. One of these companies is “Ramex” from Kladanj. The big problem for this company is the lack of timber assortments purchased from PE “Forests TC”.

“This year, unfortunately, we got 5.000 cubic less, and this is a big problem because we have about 400 employees and every cubic that we do not get under contract creates a problem for us, “ said owner of ‘Ramex’, Ramiz Hajdarevic.

The Draft Law on Forests of the FBiH was also discussed at the meeting. Professionals consider that the Draft is not based on a well-designed and quality strategy that would protect the forests as a natural good.

In the wood industry, as in most other key BiH industries, the lack of skilled labor is already noticed, as was discussed yesterday in Tuzla.
